He is survived by: his wife Helen Mitchell (McKee); his children, Robert Revell Mitchell III of Portland and Jennifer Mitchell Pauli of Chapel Hill; his stepchildren, Rachel Ross of Hartsville and Andrew Ross of Spotsylvania, Virginia.; his grandsons, Spencer and Davis Mitchell; and his sister Elisabeth Cox of Green Valley, Arizona..
