He was predeceased by: his parents, Harold Gardner and Vera Gardner; his sister Pamela Gardner Maupin; and his daughter Deborah Davis Coakley. He is survived by: his children, Forrest Davis of Blacksburg, James Davis (Valli), Tracy Gardner Osborne (Joe), Duke Gardner (Jennifer) and Taunya Gardner; his son-in-law Randy Coakley of Spotsylvania; his grandchildren, Zachary Coakley, Clay Davis, Hallie Gardner, Hanna Gardner, Casey Davis and Sierra Davis; his great grandchildren, Cambria, Vash Coakley and Ellie Prentner; his siblings, Mark Gardner (Joan) and Penelope Gardner; and his nephews, Matthew Gardner and Jonathan Gardner.
