She was predeceased by: her parents, Robert Lewis and Vera Lewis; and her siblings, Dorothy B Lawson (William), Wilbur Lewis (Verline) and Susan L Parker (Fred).

She is survived by: her husband Charles H Brooks; her children, Phyllis B. Battiste (late Henry), Charles and Brooks (Ellenora); her grandchildren, Charles H Battiste (Melissa) of Fredericksburg Va, Maria B Laidley (Clinton) of Spotsylvania Va, Angela Battiste of Spotsylvania Va, William A Battiste of Spotsylvania Va, Dr. Charles Brooks Jr. (Crystal) of Bealeton Va, Chanda Cesur (David) of Alexandria Va and Tiffany McDaniel (Keyon); her great grandchildren, Taylor Battiste, Kobe Battiste, Tatia Battiste, Charles H Battiste Jr., Maya Battiste, Camille Lewis, David Cesar II, Chaeli Brooks and Samara Brooks; and her great great grandchild Lilith Battiste.
