We are sad to announce that on January 20, 2022, at the age of 86, Samuel Albert Hughes of Spencer, Virginia passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Samuel Grant Hughes and Eva Edna Light Hughes; his former wife Rachel Conner Hughes; his wife Aileen Johnston Hughes; and his brother Maynard E. Hughes.
He is survived by: his children, Patricia Gail Hughes Belton (Ricky), Michael W. Hughes (Sherri) and Barry D. Hughes (Penny Farmer); his sisters, Verna Johnston, Phyllis Thacker (Ronnie) and Judy Morrison (Coy); and his grandchildren, Tiffany Jones, Emily Krause, Michael Hughes, Jr., Lindsey Harding, Scott Hughes, Ashley Reynolds and Patrick Belton. He is also survived by thirteen great grandchildren.
There will not be a visitation or chapel service due to COVID-19 concerns.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Sam may be made to Valley Chapel Pentecostal Holiness Church, 201 Breckenridge Circle, Axton, Virginia 24054.
