He was predeceased by: his brothers, Bronson Halsey and Bryan Halsey; his half-siblings, Loye Halsey, Mary Rutherford and Louise Halsey; his son John Lewis; his daughter-in-law Sharon Pruitt Halsey; and his daughter Eula Jean Halsey Greer.
He is survived by: his wife Winnie Maude Halsey; his son-in-law Perry B. Greer, Jr. of Rural Retreat, Virginia; his sons, Kenneth (Sandra Halsey) of Rural Retreat and Samuel D. Halsey of Wytheville, Virginia; his sister Juanita Phipps; and his grandchildren, Jarrod, LeAnn Halsey, Doddie, Josh Greer, Daphne Wren, Travis Halsey, Sam Halsey and Chad Halsey. He is also survived by twelve great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
