Gene Ray was predeceased by: parents, John William "Tom" and Margaret Russell Hale; and siblings, Arkie Johnson, Frances Fowler, Russell and Joe Hale.
Gene Ray is survived by: wife Faye W. "Bootsie" Hale of Speedwell; daughter Wendy; son-in-law Reggie Skurupey of Speedwell; son Michael; daughter-in-law Tammy Jo Hale of Speedwell; daughter Tammy Stacy of Speedwell; sisters, Anna "Betty" Funk of Speedwell and Margaret Virginia Hale of Speedwell; and sister-in-law Willie Hale of Wytheville. Gene Ray is also survived by eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
