It is with great sadness that we announce the death of James Howard Hood of South Hill, Virginia, who passed away on June 23, 2024, at the age of 90, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
As we bid farewell to this cherished soul, solace is taken in the memories held dear — the laughter shared, the wisdom imparted, the moments of quiet reflection in their presence. Though James Howard may no longer walk among us, his spirit lives on in the echoes of his kindness, the warmth of his embrace, and the light of his enduring love.
He was predeceased by: his brother Robert Russell Hood. He is survived by: his wife Irene Dean Hood; his sons, William Howard Hood of Tryon and James Edward Hood of South Hill; and his sisters, Patricia Gregory of Portsmouth, VA and Carolyn Sue Campbell of Buckhannon, WVA. He is also survived by six grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.
