He was predeceased by: his parents, Ernest Elder Rice and Minnie Mary Crews Rice; his son Lyle Dean Rice; his grandsons, Kenny Wayne and Mark; and his siblings, Curtis Ernest Rice, Joyce Ann Boyd, Minnie Alease Rowe and Earl Ferrell Rice.
He is survived by: his wife Josephine Jennings Rice; his children, Judy Stephens of Cluster Springs, Ronnie Rice of Wendell, NC, Brenda Skipworth (Tony) of South Boston, Kenny Rice (Judy) of South Boston, Priscilla DeArmond of South Boston, Leon Rice (Tammy) of Mebane, NC and Andy Rice; and his siblings, Allen Rice (Cathy) of South Boston, Aubrey Rice (Jeanette) of Halifax and John Rice (Mary) of Wake Forest. He is also survived by Fourteen Grandchildren Seventeen Great Grandchildren Two Great Great Grandchildren.
