It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Donald Barksdale of South Boston, Virginia, born in Halifax, Virginia, who passed away on July 26, 2023, at the age of 70, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, William Barksdale and Geneva "Genny" Epps; his wife Helen Lloyd Barksdale; his daughter Tonya McDowell (Chris); his grandchildren, Andrew McDowell and Sydney McDowell; his sister Cathy Rice (Allen); and his half-sisters, Peggy Jones (B. J.) and Sandra Oakes (Jeff).
