It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Walter Jay Grubbs of Smithfield, Virginia, who passed away on December 4, 2020, at the age of 67, leaving to mourn family and friends. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Walter Jay Grubbs to pay them a last tribute.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Floyd Fletcher Grubbs and Blanche Wiener Grubbs. He is survived by: his wife Leslie Ann Messick; his children, Jennifer Grubbs Mathes and Erik Grubbs (Kela); his grandchildren, Hunter, Cole, Teilor, Heiden and Karter; his sisters, Debra Grubbs Welch and Mary Ann Grubbs Fox (Edward); his nephews, Brian Welch (Brenda), Jeremy Welch (Angel) and Kory Fox (Megan); his niece Kylie Fox; his great-nephew Jakob Welch; and his great-nieces, Kelsie Welch and Katherine Welch.

“We have fond memories of Walter. He came to our Medical Office a few years ago and helped steer myself and my staff into a solid way of planning for our financial futures. I remember vividly the day we were sitting together in the office and I said to him "thanks to you I don't have to worry about retiring". That brought a tear to his eye. He was a good, honest, and caring man.. We will miss his Christmas biscuits but most of all we miss him. Our prayers to his family. Dr. and Mrs. O'Dwyer.”
