He was predeceased by: his parents, Lawrence Clyde Thacker and Elsie Gwaltney Thacker; and his son William Randall "Randy" Thacker. He is survived by: his wife Anne Griffin Thacker; his children, Michael R. Thacker and Sharon Thacker Carawan; his grandson Justin Carawan; and his brother Raymond G. Thacker.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests donation be made to the Isle of Wight Volunteer Rescue Squad, PO Box 97, Smithfield, VA 23431.
