He was predeceased by: his father Robert Henry; and his wife Joyce Helmick Gill. He is survived by: his children, Richard "Dickie" G. Gill, Jr. (Nancy) of Smithfield, Gene H. Gill (Vickie) of Newport News, Robin G. Williams (Brad) of Ft. Smith, AR and Joanna G. Bateman (Doug) of Smithfield; and his grandchildren, Evie Upton (Phillip), Leslie McAllister (Philip), Lindsay Wilson (Maurice), Megan Gotliffe (Blake), Alison W. Richins (John), Taylor Campbell, Kristine Bateman, Joshua Bateman and Daniel Williams. He is also survived by 15 great-grandchildren.
