He is survived by: his friend Pernell Newby, Sr.; his wife Joyce Marie Newby of Elberon, VA.; his sons, Rodney Newby of Elberon, VA and Pernell Newby, Jr. of Elberon, VA; his granddaughter Tamara Shaw of Dendron, VA; his stepmother Cotelia Newby of Windsor, VA.; his siblings, Virginia Savedge of Jackson, NC, Linwood Eley (Sharon), Albert Newby, Jr. of Newport News, VA, Doctor Newby (Mary), Larry Newby (Janette) of Carrollton, VA, Wesley Newby of Newport News, VA and Adolph Newby of Ivor, VA; his sisters-in-law, Lisa Newby, Mary Haskins (Ross) and Jennie Wells (John); his godchildren, Princess Stancil and Lennon Wynn, Jr.; his daughter Jowanda Hill; and his close friends, Martha Doswell and Virginia Collins. He is also survived by relatives and friends.
