He was predeceased by: his siblings, Betty Lou Dye and Darrell Barker. He is survived by: his wife Peggy J. Foster Barker of Ormond Beach, FL; his children, John C. Barker (Julie Hurt) of Glen Allen, VA and Tami E. Barker (Scott Rankin) of Suffolk, VA; his grandchildren, Andrew, Emma (Matthew Kesler) and Olivia; and his siblings, C. A. Barker, Jodey Keiffer (Janice) of West Virginia, Peggy K. Barker, Kitty Pitman and Penny Grey of Virginia. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
