As Donna Jean departs from this earthly realm, her essence lingers — a whisper on the wind, a ripple on the water — a testament to the enduring power of love to transcend the boundaries of life and death. Though Donna Jean may no longer walk beside us, her spirit lives on in the memories and the legacy Donna Jean leaves behind.
She was predeceased by: her father Joseph "Eugene" Nelms, Jr.; and her stepfather James Hurst of Smithfield. She is survived by: her mother June West Nelms Hurst of Smithfield; her siblings, Debbie Cartwright (Jack) of Macon, Joseph E. Nelms III of Smithfield and Bryan K. Nelms (Sobeida) of Newport News; her great-aunt Iola Saunders of Chuckatuck; and her uncle Jimmy West of Outer Banks, N. C.. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
