He was predeceased by: his parents, Matt Thomas Nelms and Mary Josephine Crumpler Nelms; and his siblings, Waverly T. Nelms, Betty Ann Lang and Mary Louis Faust.
He is survived by: his wife Barbara Boothe Nelms; his daughters, Pamela Duck (James) and Cindi Jackson; his grandchildren, James Daniel Mildenberger (Sarah), Samantha Faucette, Ryan Duck and Justin Duck; his great grandchildren, Callie, Cheyenne, Layla, Brayden, Hazel, Ava, Austin, Junior and Hunter; his brother Herbert; and his sister-in-law Sandra Boothe.
Visitation was held on Thursday, February 13th 2025 from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Little's Funeral Home and Cremation Service (1515 S Church St, Smithfield, VA 23430). A funeral service was held on Friday, February 14th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Friday, February 14th 2025 from 2:30 PM to 3:30 PM at the Oakland Cemetery (1009 E Pembroke Ave, Hampton, VA 23669).
