He was predeceased by: his parents, Paul Henry and Gracie Pannel Smith; his wife Kitty; his son Danny; and his siblings, Harry, Johnny, Randolph, Barbara and Julia.
He is survived by: his former wife Catherine K. Fitzgerald; his children, Mike (Debbie) and Donna (Harold); his grandchildren, Nichole, Rachel, Melody, Byron, Joshua and Rixey; and his sisters, Charlotte Harris and Mildred Davis. He is also survived by 11 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to the American Cancer Society.
