He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Robert Lee Welch and Lucille Buchanan; his wife Elsie Lucille Welch; his daughters, Carrie Atkinson (Trey) of Bryson City, NC, Rita Seamster (James) of Brodnax, Allecia Parker of South Hill and Marie Finch of Brodnax; his close friend Izzy; his daughter Gayle King; and his grandson Dustin Mears. He was also cherished by 17 Great grandchildren and 1 Great-Great Grandchild.
