He was predeceased by: his parents, Charlie M. Buchanan and Julia Whitt Buchanan; and his daughter Julie Buchanan Hardman. He is survived by: his wife Marianne Sims Buchanan; his children, Beth Buchanan Brooker (Ken) of Richmond, VA and David Buchanan (Janet) of Chase City, VA; his grandchildren, Megan Hardman Floyd (Will) of Roanoke, VA and Matthew Brooker (Taylor) of New York, NY; and his great grandchildren, Madison and Dakota.
