He was predeceased by: his parents, Jennings Franklin Mcalister Sr. and Margaret Maxine Mcalister (Tappy); his wife Lois Mae Short; and his brother Doug Mcalister. He is survived by: his children, Danny Mcalister (Dianna) of Elkton, Charlie Weaver (Pam) of Shenandoah and Belinda Pence (Sonny) of Shenandoah; his brother Billy Joe Mcalister of Elkton; his grandchildren, Justin, Sami, Matt, Brandon and Maddie; and his great grandchildren, Laci and Haley.
