She was predeceased by: her parents, Rembert Lee and Gwendolyn Gardner Hughes; and her sisters, Marsha Carol Samuelson and Brenda Faye Kirtley. She is survived by: her husband Warren Allen Pence; her daughters, Wendy Lam (Jerry), Jamie Arehart (Tommy), Amy Hensley (Jamey) and Katie Muska (Willis); and her brother Robert Hughes (Marie). She is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren, as well as countless other children.
