He was predeceased by: his parents, John William Proffit and Louise Nolley Proffit; his brothers, Philip Elmo Proffit and David Allen Proffit; his grandson Ethan Jones; and his aunt Edna Looney.
He is survived by: his wife Diane Proffit; his children, Wayne (Sharon Proffit), Steven (Vicki Proffit) and Whitney (Gary Jones); his grandchildren, Jessica Elliott, Tyler Proffit, Austen Schiffman, Alex Schiffman, Jaina Proffit and Maverick Jones; his sisters, Linda Proffit Effinger (Randolph) and Jessie Simpkins (Roger); and his sister-in-law Sheila Switzer (Jerry Harms). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers the family askes that donations be made to Angels of Assisi.
