It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Dorothy P Allen (Sedley, Virginia), born in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina, who passed away on February 6, 2019, at the age of 83, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Johnnie B. Powell and Alma S. Powell; and her sister Betty Jean Timmons. She is survived by: her husband Robert J. "Pete" Allen; her children, Robert L. Allen, Cathy A. Bradshaw (Mark), Cheryl Williams (Steve) and Laurie Narducci; her siblings, Christine Gordon and Louis "Bobby" Powell (Linda); her sister-in-law Rose Phillips; her grandchildren, Ashley Gavin (Hudson), Michelle Benson (Kevin), Whitney Worrell (Charlie), Shane Bradshaw and Travis Starke; and her daughter Vanessa Vick. She is also survived by nine great grandchildren; and a special friend.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8:30 PM Saturday in the funeral home and suggests that memorial donations be made to Sedley Fire Department or Tucker Swamp Baptist Church.
