He was predeceased by: his parents, John Eugene Layne and Edna Davis Layne; and his siblings, James Edwin Layne, Robert Martin Layne, Frances Layne Washburn and Ella Louise Daniel.
He is survived by: his wife Shirley Davis Layne; his brother John Harris Layne (Karlen Layne); his sister-in-law Doris McKamey; his children, Jennifer Sue Layne, Sandy Kay Layne (Carl Moyer) and Scott Eugene Layne (Matt Litchfield); his granddaughter Morgan Ashley Layne-Hippert; his great grandchild Tucker Fulton Laidler; and also Paul Laidler. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
