She was predeceased by: her father Joseph Wesley; her husband Jay C. Townsend; and her siblings, Leland Hardy, Shirly Hardy, Melvin Hardy and Dorothy Husky.

She is survived by: her sons, Brent Townsend of Scottsville and Patrick Townsend of Vinton; and her grandchildren, Joshua, Daniel Townsend of Pocahontas and Siobhan Townsend of Fork Union. She is also survived by two great grandchildren.
