He was predeceased by: his parents, Douglas Vass and Ray Vass; his parents-in-law, Walter and Ellen Hazelgrove; and his brother-in-law David Hazelgrove.

He is survived by: his wife Carolyn Vass; his children, Eric Vass (Georgina), Laura Hoyt, Christal Vass (Allen) and Christina Vass; and his grandchildren, Gavin, Morgan, Maddox, Levi, Logan, Landon and Waylon. He is also survived by many other relatives and friends.
