He was predeceased by: his parents, Norman Brown and Jessie Thompson; his stepfather Joseph Thompson; his sisters, Alma Brown and Peggy T. Herek; and his half-brother Donald Thompson.
He is survived by: his wife Betty A. Brown; his daughters, Dawn B. Hawkins (Gene) and Lisa A. Brown; his granddaughters, Emily Hanson (Justin), Rebecca Whitaker (Peter) and Jessica Shelton; his great grandchildren, Timothy, Alison, Hannah and Philip; his pets, Tally and Max; and his caregivers, Tricia, Angie and Brittany. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Centenary UMC - 411 E. Grace St., Richmond, Va., Bon Secours Hospice, or SEVA GRREAT Golden Retriever Rescue.
