He was predeceased by: his parents, William Douglas Edwards, Sr. and Frannie Suttle Edwards; and his daughter Ruth Ellen Edwards Hurley (Walt Hurley, Jr.). He is survived by: his wife Rachel Packett Edwards; his sons, William D. Edwards III (Jennifer) of Warner and James R. Edwards (Rebecca) of Saluda; his grandchildren, Michael, Marshall, Randy, Andy, Quincy Edwards, Hurley, III, Kaitlin Sorrentino, Rachel Kittrell of Virginia and Sarah Grace Ransone; his great grandchildren, Sadie Vance, Annie Beau, Rece, Jake, Ava, Madison, Harper, Lacey Paige, Sawyer and Liam; his sister Eulalia Pitts of Maryland; and his nieces, Carolyn, Maryanne and Patricia.
