He was predeceased by: his parents, Millard Carlton and Ruth Fetterolf Carlton; and his brother Clyde Carlton. He is survived by: his wife Frances H. Carlton; his daughter Amy; his son-in-law Joseph Lenderman; his grandson William Carlton Lenderman; his friend Charles Rich; and his nephew Timothy Milby.
