He was predeceased by: his father Oscar Gilmer Mitchell; and his brothers, Oscar "Junie" Mitchell and Robert Edward Mitchell. He is survived by: his grandson Westyn; his daughter Casey Shupe (Josh); his mother Sadie Mitchell; and his siblings, Wayne Mitchell, Jerry Mitchell (Delores), Mary Wyatt (Bill), Retha Moore (Mike), Ellen Hiatt, Lisa Mobley and Amy Hart. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made towards the funeral expenses.
