It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Shelby Jean Tolbert Stephenson of Saltville, Virginia, who passed away on November 8, 2023, at the age of 81, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Glenn Tolbert and Elsie Tolbert of Saltville; her close friend Roy Scott Stephenson, Sr.; her husband Roy Scott Stephenson, Sr.; and her brother C. W. Tolbert.
She is survived by: her children, Xan Buchanan (John Lee), Scotty Stephenson (Vickie) and Chip Stephenson (Krystal); her grandchildren, Payton Stephenson (Kala), Karleigh Stephenson (Mason), Perry Stephenson and Clayton Buchanan; her great grandchildren, Lily and Rylee; her sisters, Patricia Slagle of Kingsport and Glenna Anderson of Roanoke; her close friends, Mac, Pat Buchanan, Fada and Charles Lamie; and her caregiver Lenora Griffey. She is also survived by nieces and nephews.
Shelby was a lifelong member of Locust Cove Presbyterian Church and the family would like to ask in lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to her church or Youth Bible School.
