She was predeceased by: her parents, George Gates and Mary Gates; her husband Donald Roberts; and her siblings, Bill Gates, Carl Gates, Rob Gates, Walter Gates, Tom Gates, John Gates and Frances Musselwhite.
She is survived by: her brother Paul Gates of Richmond, VA; and her grandchildren, Heather Jackson of Saltville and James Jackson of Saltville. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Quarry United Methodist Church Building fund or St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
