He was predeceased by: his son James C. "Jimmy" Phibbs, Jr.; his parents, H. H. Phibbs and Hazel Phibbs; and his siblings, Dimple Phibbs, Mary Barr, Vienna Phibbs, Ralph, Carlyle, Junior Ray, Melvin and Milton Phibbs.
He is survived by: his wife Mary Hurd Phibbs; his children, Janet Phibbs, Julia Taylor (Michael) and Jeffrey Phibbs; and his brothers, Marvin (Elaine), Lacy and Herbert Phibbs. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
