It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Elsie Ruth Dowell Surber (Saltville, Virginia), who passed away on October 16, 2023, at the age of 86, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, William Dowell and Hazel W. Dowell; her husband J. D. Surber; her daughter Lena Baker; her granddaughter Ashley S. Cline; her great grandchild Lukas Cline; and her siblings, David, Doug, Elbert, Paul Dowell, Mildred Stewart, Dorothy Chapman, Evelyn Hayes and Sheila Smith.
She is survived by: her children, Marlene Allison (David Hayden), Cindy Kestner (Gary), Margaret Surber, Brittney Surber, Tim Surber (Debbie), Nathan "Nook" Surber and Tony Snodgrass (Donna); and her close friend Michael Holley. She is also survived by her family and friends.
