He was predeceased by: his parents, Cecil Prater and Rosie Prater; and his siblings, Gerlene McCrosky, Gladys Marie Holmes, Duane Prater and Franklin Prater.
He is survived by: his siblings, Mary Quesenberry of Cornelius, NC, Sherlene Pinnix of Myrtle Beach, SC and Robert Prater of Saltville, VA. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
