He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter Aubrey Lester, Jr. and Virginia Wyatt Lester; and his sisters, Ruth Dale Lester Cooper and Delores Ann Lester Hogan. He is survived by: his wife Alice Lester; his daughter Ann Lester Franco; his son-in-law Steve Franco; his grandsons, Garrison Franco and Micah Franco; and his friend Ivan Boles.
Visitation was held on Friday, January 3rd 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Simpson Funeral Home (5160 Peters Creek Rd, Roanoke, VA 24019). A funeral service was held on Saturday, January 4th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 12:45 PM at the same location.
Aubrey never minced words and one of his final requests to his daughter was "don't put in lieu of flowers in my obituary, I want the place full of flowers.".
