Sylvia Poff Shortt Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Sylvia Poff Shortt of Salem, Virginia, who passed away on October 10, 2024, at the age of 93, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her husband Diamond Shortt; her parents, James Lafayette Poff and Ocie Poff; and her siblings, Edmund Poff, Murrie Poff, Evelyn Conner, Beulah Vest, Colleen King, Jaqueline Blackwell and Shirley Poff.

She is survived by: her daughters, Janet Shortt and Susan Shortt-Ring (Jax); her grandson Brent Ring (Anna); her great grandchild Jane Ring; her siblings, Louise Thompson (Dorsey) and Wilson Poff (Audrey); and her sisters-in-law, Joyce Poff, Emma Poff and Margie Shortt. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Roanoke Valley SPCA.
