As we bid farewell to this luminous soul, let her loved ones carry forward the torch of her memory, illuminating the path ahead with the warmth of her love and the brilliance of her spirit. Though Patricia may journey beyond the horizon of our sight, her essence remains woven into the very fabric of our being — a guiding light in the darkness, a beacon of hope in the night.
She was predeceased by: her parents, William L. Bauman, Sr. and Vergie W. Bauman; and her brother William L. Bauman, Jr.. She is survived by: her husband Michael S. Sledd; her daughter Diane S. Childers; her son-in-law Fenton; and her grandchildren, Rachel H. Milan (Kerry) and Seth E. Childers. She is also survived by other extended family members and close friends.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Good Samaritan Hospice and Richfield Living for their gentle care of Pat during her illness, as well as the medical teams at Duke University Cancer and Alzheimer's Centers and Blue Ridge Cancer Center. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Good Samaritan Hospice.
