We are sad to announce that on June 11, 2024 we had to say goodbye to Patricia Sledd in Salem, Virginia, born in Roanoke, Virginia. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.

As we bid farewell to this luminous soul, let her loved ones carry forward the torch of her memory, illuminating the path ahead with the warmth of her love and the brilliance of her spirit. Though Patricia may journey beyond the horizon of our sight, her essence remains woven into the very fabric of our being — a guiding light in the darkness, a beacon of hope in the night.

She was predeceased by : her parents, William L. Bauman, Sr. and Vergie W. Bauman; and her brother William L. Bauman, Jr.. She is survived by : her husband Michael S. Sledd; her daughter Diane S. Childers; her son-in-law Fenton; and her grandchildren, Rachel H. Milan (Kerry) and Seth E. Childers. She is also survived by other extended family members and close friends.

Visitation was held on Thursday, June 13th 2024 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Oakey's North Chapel (6732 Peters Creek Rd, Hollins, VA 24019). A funeral service was held on Friday, June 14th 2024 at 10:00 AM at the same location.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Good Samaritan Hospice and Richfield Living for their gentle care of Pat during her illness, as well as the medical teams at Duke University Cancer and Alzheimer's Centers and Blue Ridge Cancer Center. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Good Samaritan Hospice.
