It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Michael Fitzpatrick Cox of Salem, Virginia, who passed away on December 21, 2024, at the age of 57, leaving to mourn family and friends. As we bid farewell to this cherished soul, solace is taken in the memories held dear — the laughter shared, the wisdom imparted, the moments of quiet reflection in their presence. Though Michael Fitzpatrick may no longer walk among us, his spirit lives on in the echoes of his kindness, the warmth of his embrace, and the light of his enduring love.
He is survived by: his parents, Michael Joseph Cox and Barbara Anne Fitzpatrick Cox; his wife Jenny Pagans Cox; his daughters, Olivia and Lauren Cox of Salem, VA; his siblings, Tracey Cox Hasick (Dale) and Carl Cox; and his nieces, Taylor Perrin (Caleb) and Ella Cox of Norfolk, VA. He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Visitation was held on Monday, December 30th 2024 from 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM at the Simpson Funeral Home (5160 Peters Creek Rd, Roanoke, VA 24019). A celebration of life was held on Monday, December 30th 2024 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to the Chesapeake Bay Foundation.
