He was predeceased by: his parents, Bert Wilson and Jettie Wells Wilson; his wife Ella "Tiny" Gordon Wyrick Wilson; his sister Joyce Dye; and his brothers-in-law, Jim Dye and Don Thompson.
He is survived by: his sons, David Wilson (Kimberly Wilson) and John Wilson (Dianna Curtis); his grandchildren, Charles Wilson (Tina Wilson), Ashleigh Wilson (Joey Gonzalez), Alex Wilson (Veronica Di Bella) and Samantha Wilson (Der'ron Divers); his great grandchild Damien Wilson; his sister Nancy Young (Bruce Young); his sister-in-law Evelyn Thompson; and his niece Donna Link.
Visitation was held on Thursday, January 16th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the John M. Oakey & Son Chapel (305 Roanoke Blvd, Salem, VA 24153). A funeral service was held on Friday, January 17th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the First United Methodist Church (125 W Main St, Salem, VA 24153).
In lieu of flowers, charitable contributions may be made to the Dr. Bayes E. Wilson Scholarship Fund of the Roanoke County Schools Education Foundation at 5937 Cove Road, Roanoke Virginia 24019.
