He is survived by: his wife Ava K. McKinney; his son Joseph Thomas McKinney Jr. (Debra E. McKinney); his grandchildren, Joshua N. McKinney Sr. and Amber N. McKinney; his great grandchildren, Joshua N. McKinney Jr., Elizabeth R. McKinney and Bentley W. McKinney; his great-nephew Michael A. McKinney (Candace); his great-niece Chelsea M. Mendoza (John Freddie); and his siblings, Willie McKinney of Antioch, TN and Glenda M. Childress of Amherst. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
