He was predeceased by: his parents, Florence Oneeda Carson and Charlie Russell "Shorty" Thompson; and his sister Shelby Harper. He is survived by: his children, Charles Russell Thompson (Deanna) of Lynchburg, Savannah Thompson Evans (Josiah) of Rustburg and Chandler Langhorne Lawhorn (Cody) of Rustburg; and his brother Rick Thompson (Nancy) of Concord. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
