With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Joan Carrol Catron Maxey of Rural Retreat, Virginia, who passed away on May 6, 2023 at the age of 93. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, John Frank Catron and Frances Lyons Catron. She is survived by: her husband Richard Cook Maxey; her children, Peggy Houseman of Wytheville, VA, David R. Maxey (Iva) of Crockett, VA and Rodney J. Maxey (Brenda) of Rural Retreat, VA; her grandchildren, Brian Houseman, Maranda Davidson, Craig Alan Maxey and Brittany Thies; her great grandchildren, Jackson, Samuel, Leliana, John, Kailey and Cooper; and her brothers, Nelson Catron of Arizona and Kyle Catron of Tennessee. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
