He was predeceased by: his parents, James Lane and Minnie Copeland Lane of Belcher Mountain; his siblings, Melvin Lane and Gloria; and his brothers-in-law, Gerald Pierce and Don Lane.
He is survived by: his wife Janice Blankenship Lane; his daughters, Rhonda Phillips (Dennis) of Pearisburg, VA and Valerie McBrayer (Tinker) of Fuquay Varina, NC.; his grandchildren, Ashley Phillips Smith, Austin Phillips (Jacklyn), Kimberly McBrayer, Brian McBrayer (Rachel), Sarah McBrayer, Jessica Kelly and Amanda McBrayer Shafer (Bryan); his siblings, Nancy Lane of Roanoke, VA, Robert Lane (Janet) of Abingdon, VA and Joel Lane (Wanda) of Bluefield, WV; and his sister-in-law Pearl Lane. He is also survived by nine great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
