He was predeceased by: his parents, Wilbur Haywood Knight and Allie Morris Knight; his wife Corine Francis Knight; his children, John Casper Knight Jr. and Carolyn Faye Gentry; and his siblings, Jesse, Haywood, Parker, Marvin, Lindsey, Lyman, Wess, Glenwood, Lizzie, Helen, Eunice and Lelia.
He is survived by: his children, Tammy K. Gilbert (Greg) of Ruckersville and Alvis Wayne Knight (Patsy) of Quinque; his siblings, Elvin, Alton, Katherine and Lorene; and his grandchildren, Gina Graham (Chad), Kim Shifflett (Glenn), Douglas Gentry (Lisa), Ashley Ferris (Randy), Alvis Knight Jr., John Knight III, Tonya Smith and Kelli Gilbert. He is also survived by thirteen great-grandchildren.
