He was predeceased by: his parents, Joe Ellis and Ivy Ellis; his siblings, Jimmy Ellis, Peggy Cheek and Sherry Jones; and his brother-in-law David Hall.
He is survived by: his wife Margie Ellis; his children, Mike Ellis (Kim) of Rose Hill, VA, Bob Bales (Brenda) of Indiana, Chuck Bales (Dylane) of Indiana, Darnell Marcum (Ray) of Indiana and Patricia Pauley (Jeff) of Rose Hill, VA; his siblings, Rev. L. J. Ellis, Opal Jonson of Rose Hill, VA and Margaret Hall of Rose Hill, VA; and his close friend Daniel Cliffton of Rose Hill, VA.. He is also survived by one great-great-grandchild on the way; ten nieces and nephews.
