Ewing, VA.,- Mr. Joseph David "J.D." Wilson, a beacon of wisdom and kindness, passed away on February 7, 2024, after a short-term illness. Born on December 2, 1931, in Rose Hill, Virginia, J.D. lived a life characterized by friendliness and a deep commitment to his community. He took his last breath in Ewing, Virginia, leaving behind a legacy of love and hard work.

J.D. was the cornerstone of his family, a lineage that saw him as both patriarch and guiding light. While he was preceded in death by his parents, Dewey Wilson and Lucille Miller Wilson, his daughter Jouette Wilson, his first wife Minnie (Ely) Wilson, his sister Winifred Shackelford, and his brothers Lee Arthur and Robert Wilson.

Left to cherish his legacy, his wife, Joyce Wilson, his daughter Carolyn (Lester) Moore, stepdaughters Beverly Williams, Tina (Brian) Dean, his cherished grandchildren Leslie Mullins, Jared (Hannah) Williams, Madison Williams, and his adored great-grandchildren William and Emily Mullins, Asher and Lily Williams, Chloe & Brantley Dean, other close relatives and friends.

J.D.'s professional life was a testament to his industrious nature and entrepreneurial spirit. Starting his career at a young age at the Tannery in Middlesboro, he later began work with Don Grabeel before venturing out on his own to open J.D.'s Feed Mill in 1988. His unwavering dedication to his business lasted until his well-earned retirement in 2016. For 28 years, J.D. served his community and friends, ensuring they were well taken care of, a trait that extended beyond the professional realm into his personal life.

His interests were a mirror of the man he was—grounded, nurturing, and always growing. J.D. found joy in raising cattle and tending to his garden, cultivating both the land and relationships with the same tenderness and patience. He believed in the value of hard work and the rewards of perseverance.

J.D. will be remembered for his wise counsel, his readiness to lend a helping hand, and his innate ability to make those around him feel valued and cared for. His was a life well-lived, marked by the countless lives he touched with his generosity and warmth.

J.D.'s family will receive friends on Saturday, February 10, 2024, from 11:00 to 1:00 p.m. for the visitation at the Praise and Worship Center in Rose Hill, VA. (224 Wilder's Peak Dr. Rose Hill, VA).

The funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Praise and Worship Center. The service will be officiated by Minister Glen Smith, Special music will be provided by; Carl Capps and James Shackelford.

His committal ceremony will be held at Elydale Primitive Baptist Church cemetery.
