With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Robert Thornton (Rocky Mount, Virginia), born in Mentcle, Pennsylvania, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on August 16, 2024 at the age of 80. As Robert departs from this earthly realm, his essence lingers — a whisper on the wind, a ripple on the water — a testament to the enduring power of love to transcend the boundaries of life and death. Though Robert may no longer walk beside us, his spirit lives on in the memories and the legacy Robert leaves behind.
He is survived by: his wife Naomi Armour Thornton; his daughters, Alcinda Zack and Cora Peak (Ben); his grandchildren, Alicia Zack, Quintana, Isabel and Marshall Peak; and his siblings, Dolores Saurer (James) and Thomas Thornton. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
