He was predeceased by: his parents, Anna Schmidt and Ferdinand Schmidt; and his wife Barbara Schmidt. He is survived by: his sister Marianne Jung (Ulrich); his children, Michael Schmidt (Debra Mason), Susan Rivera and Deborah Schmidt-Guecia (Michael); and his grandchildren, Ryan Holt, Rachel Van Dillon (Rich) and Robbie Holt (Flor). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service was held on Sunday, January 5th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Rocky Mount Presbyterian Church (175 Floyd Ave, Rocky Mount, VA 24151).
In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor Guenter's memory are encouraged to make a donation in his name to a charity of their choice.
