It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Delva Loretta Carpenter of Rocky Mount, Virginia, who passed away on August 1, 2024, at the age of 87, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Noah M. Bleigh, Sr. and Lanna G. Bleigh (Cool); her husband Loyd J Carpenter; and her sisters, Lois Pearl Garrison and Lola Faye Jerden.
She is survived by: her children, Sherry Cogar (Allen) of Rocky Mount, VA and Dr. Zandall J. Carpenter of Albuquerque; her grandchildren, Zachary Cogar (Ashlie Westfall) of Rocky Mount, VA and Leandra Hobson (Michael) of Troutman, NC; her pets, Scout, Hunter, Harlow, Sasha and Levi; her great grandchildren, Jackson, Raylan Cogar, Addyson of Rocky Mount, VA and Baylee Cogar of Rocky Mount, VA; and her stepgranddaughter Emily Dooley.
